menyebabkan banyak pengamen mencari rezeki di kegiatan yang berlangsung rutin
setiap minggu tersebut.
Betawi memang erat hubungannya
dengan Ibu Kota Jakarta yang
sudah memasuki usia 490 tahun. Namun kesenian yang menjadi ciri khas kemajuan
kebudayaan Betawi, kini sudah mulai jarang terlihat di ruang-ruang publik.

Betawi has a really close relationship with the Capital
City, Jakarta which aged 490 years already. who are already 490 years old.
However, art that characterizes the progress of Betawi culture, has begun to
be rarely seen in public spaces. What are the typical of arts that rarely
seen in Jakarta?

Ondel 0ndel is
a part of Indonesian culture, especially from Betawi ethnic. If someone
translate it into english, it won’t change the word because there’s no word in
english that has same terms as ondel ondel. Ondel ondel is big doll that has a
white face that originaly made by Indonesian people. The cultural elements in a work result will influence the text or work
so that it will bring up the terms of the culture in which the text is produced
that may not be translatable into different text reader cultures.
Betawi is a part of Indonesian ethnic, as another
ethnic in other city or world, name of ethnic is never change except the ethnic
it self change the name of it. So, there’s no terms in english that suitable to
replace the word ‘betawi’.

In
addition to be a gathering event between Jakarta residents after Idul Fitri
Eid, this event also became a forum for five administrative areas in the
capital city of Indonesia showcase the uniqueness of each region.
Lebaran Betawi 2017 was held at Betawi Village Setu
Babakan, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta. The strong Betawi nuances are deeply felt
there. Jakarta's entertainment and special events such as gambang kromong, lenong,
pencak silat, gambus, tambourine, pantun reply, culinary tour, booth
show, fashion show, and many more are present at the event.

Selain
menjadi ajang silaturahmi antarwarga Jakarta setelah lebaran Idul Fitri,
acara ini juga menjadi wadah untuk lima wilayah administrasi di Ibu Kota
Indonesia memamerkan kekhasan setiap daerahnya.
Lebaran Betawi 2017 kemarin diadakan di Perkampungan Betawi
Setu Babakan, Jagakarsa, Jakarta Selatan. Nuansa khas Betawi yang kental
sangat terasa di sana. Acara hiburan dan kesenian khas Jakarta seperti gambang kromong,
lenong, pencak silat, gambus, rebana, balas pantun, wisata kuliner,
pameran stan, fashion show, dan masih banyak lagi hadir di acara tersebut.

Lebaran is another name of Idul Fitri,
whether Idul Fitri or Eid al-Adha which is celebrated every year or every month
Shawwal after a month of Moslem doing fast in Ramadhan. It’s become a habit of
indonesian people to called it lebaran. In english, there’s no right word to replace
the name ‘lebaran’. It’s only used by people in Indonesia. So when someone
translate it, it better to keep it with ‘lebaran’
Gambang kromong(betawi’s music) lenong(betawi’s
drama), pencak silat(martial art of betawi), gambus(betawi’s music) are parts of
Indonesian cultures, especially from Betawi ethnic. Indonesian culture element
is only owned by the community of Betawi, there’s no such terms in english. So
it cannot change into english.
